State of Emergency & more Emergency Snow Routes lifted
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has lifted the City’s State of Emergency as of 9 a.m. today and will continue to release additional Emergency Snow Routes for residential parking as they are cleared of snow. The following Emergency Snow Routes have been cleared for parking:
All other snow emergency routes (listed below) are still being enforced, and vehicles parked on these snow emergency routes are subject to towing. This is necessary to allow public works crews to continue clearing snow and ice from streets, for emergency vehicles to move throughout Hoboken, and for the safety and welfare of all residents.
OEM will continue to inform the public via Nixle, and the City and Public Safety social media accounts (see below), when the emergency snow routes have been plowed sufficiently, and additional restrictions are lifted.
Emergency snow routes in Hoboken are labeled with street signs that read “No Parking When Road Is Snow Covered.” A map and a list of emergency snow routes are available on the City’s website www.hobokennj.gov/snow.
The following snow emergency routes remain in effect:
Discounted garage parking ends at 4 p.m.
Discounted garage parking for residents with a Resident On-Street Parking Permit and Temporary Parking Permit ends today, Jan. 27, at 4 p.m.
Anyone parked in Municipal Garage B, Garage D, or the Midtown Garage, which are at capacity, at the discounted $5 rate per 24-hour period, should remove their vehicle by 4 p.m., Tuesday. Those who do not will be charged the posted rate for any additional time after 4 p.m. Residents who parked in the garages before the discounted rate went into effect will pay the posted hourly rate up until 4 p.m. on Saturday in addition to the discounted rate.
To avoid delays exiting the garages, please plan to exit early, as lines are known to form when the discounted rate ends.
Reopening updates
The Hoboken Public School District announced they will have a 90-minute delay opening today, Jan. 27, with all K-12 students and students in the Preschool Disabilities Program starting at 9:45 a.m. The HOPES and Mile Square Preschool Programs will begin at 10 a.m. Those parked in school zones are asked to move their vehicles.
The Hoboken Public Library will have a delayed opening with all locations reopening at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 27.
Recreation, senior programming, and Hop service all resume today. Due to snow conditions, riders are encouraged to use the Passio Go app to track the Hop’s location in real time. For more information about the Hop visit hobokennj.gov/hop.
Parking rule suspensions
Street cleaning and metered parking are suspended on today, Jan. 27.
The City will continue to enforce safety-related parking regulations, including illegal parking, blocking crosswalks, and double parking. Loading zone regulations will also be enforced to ensure businesses and residents can continue to receive deliveries. Bus stops will also be enforced.
Clear sidewalks, curb ramps, and hydrants
The City of Hoboken would like to thank all residents and property owners who have cleared their property of snow and ice. City public works crews and contractors continue to remove snow on public properties. Property owners who have not cleared snow and ice from the sidewalks, curb cuts, and curb ramps adjacent to their property could face fines between $250 and $2,000.
Those who wish to report an unshoveled or untreated property, can email the address to sanitationinspectors@hobokennj.gov.
