Mayor Bhalla invites residents to the Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and the City of Hoboken invite residents to the Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival on Sunday, May 1, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The festival, featuring displays and sales by artists, crafters, food vendors, and local businesses, will occur on Washington Street between Observer Highway and Seventh Street.

"The Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival is the unofficial start of Spring," said Mayor Bhalla. "I encourage everyone to join your friends and family to support our local crafters, artists, musicians, and food vendors for a day outside with your neighbors celebrating spring at this not to be missed event. Thank you to our sponsors for working with my Administration to once again make this festival possible."

The community staple offers fun for the whole family as several businesses will offer creative activities for children, some of which will be on Washington Street between 3rd Street and 4th Street.

There will also be two stages of live musical performances located on Washington Street between Newark Street and Observer Highway and on Washington Street between Sixth Street and Seventh Street.

This year's headlining performance will be The Ivan Julian Band, created by Ivan Julian, a founding member of Richard Hell & the Voidoids, guest guitarist for The Clash, and lead guitarist for Shreikback and Matthew Sweet.

He comes to the Hoboken Festival following the release of his latest solo LP, 'Swing Your Lanterns' from LADTK Records. A good portion of his band lives in Hoboken and includes James Mastro of The Bongos, Debby Schwartzof The Aquanettas, Al Maddy of The Dots, Mike Ratti of The Nails, and Jared Michael Nickerson of Burnt Sugar Arkestra.

Other performers this year include The Counterfeiters, Widely Grown with James Calleo, Krystal, Pierce Turner, Ruby Bones, The Gentlemen of Soul, The Brooklyners, Max Feinstein, B Breakers, and Frankie Morales and the Mambo of the Times Orchestra.

The Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival is funded in part by a grant from the NJ Department of State Division of Travel and Tourism and sponsored by Burgiss, Ironstate, Suez, and the Rockefeller Group.
