Hoboken Police Department swears in five new officers

The Hoboken Police Department swore in five new Police Officers at a ceremony at City Hall on June 20, 2025.

The new officers include Ryan Capogna, William A. Vera, Michael R. Miranda, Adrian M. Comayagua, and Thomas Graziano Jr., all recent graduates of the Hudson County Police Academy.

“No matter how many swearing-in ceremonies I attend, I continue to be impressed by the caliber of officers joining the Hoboken Police Department,” said Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to this new class of officers and my sincere thanks to their families for the support.”

“This swearing-in reflects our continued investment in a safer, stronger city,” said Public Safety Director Ken Ferrante. “These new officers represent what our public safety department stands for and I thank them for their dedication to the community they are about to serve and protect. This group also includes the sons of two of our all-time great detectives, retired HPD Detective Sergeants William Vera Sr. and Michael Miranda Sr.”

“Some of my proudest moments as Chief, are when we welcome new young officers to our ranks,” said Police Chief Steven Aguiar. “These recruits were leaders in their class at the academy, and I am confident they will continue to be leaders here in Hoboken.”

The new officers will begin four months of field training in July, after which they will be assigned to the Department’s Uniform Patrol Bureau. The five new officers bring Hoboken’s Police Department to 141 members.
