Hoboken farmers’ markets return this summer at three locations

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and the City of Hoboken today announced the return of Hoboken’s farmers’ markets which will kick off this weekend under the viaduct. This year, the City will have three farmers’ markets that will expand access to fresh produce from local and regional vendors to residents citywide.

“Our farmers’ markets are more than a place to find delicious produce, baked goods, and fresh flowers,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla, “they are also an opportunity to meet with your neighbors and support local and regional businesses. I encourage residents to take advantage of these markets in the neighborhood nearest you.”

Residents will now have access to weekly farmer's markets in the Southwest Resiliency Park, at Church Square Park, and under the 14th Street Viaduct on a weekly basis.

Farmers' market season officially kicks off this Saturday, May 6, with the Uptown Farmers' Market, sponsored by Bijou Properties and the Hoboken Quality of Life Coalition.

The Uptown Farmers' Market, which will occur on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through mid-December, will return under the 14th Street Viaduct between Grand and Adams Streets.

The Southwest Park Farmers' Market will take place every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. starting on June 1 on the north side of Observer Highway between Jackson Street and Harrison Street.

The Hoboken Farmers' Market at Church Square Park is the City's longest-running farmer's market, entering its 27th year this summer. The market will return to Garden Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Street every Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. starting on June 6.

Both the Church Square Park Farmers' Market and Southwest Park Farmers' Market will end in mid-November.

All markets will offer nutritious fruits, vegetables, and other local products. Participating vendors will vary by market, but vendors include Stony Hill Farms, Union Hill Farms, Melick's Town Farm, Circle Brook Farms, Cotton Cattle, Hoboken Farms, Catch of the Hamptons, Willet's Own Meats, Pampered Pug, Roger's Seafood, Picklicious, Choc O Pain, Paolo's Kitchen, Gourmet Dried Fruits and Nuts, and more.

Select vendors will accept SNAP benefits.
