The City of Hoboken, in partnership with the Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee, today announced this year’s lineup of events honoring LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, which kicks off on Monday, June 2, with a ceremony at City Hall.
“We are excited to welcome residents and visitors alike to come together to celebrate our City’s diversity and inclusivity,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “I invite all to take part in these positive and family-friendly events to show their love and support for our LGBTQIA+ community members.”
The Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee was established following an Executive Order by Mayor Bhalla last year. In addition to organizing Pride Month events, the committee works to promote inclusiveness, raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ community issues, propose solutions to address those issues, and enhance the pride community within the City.
“Pride Month began as a commemoration of the Stonewall Riots and the struggle for LGBTQIA+ equality,” said Cathy Williams, Chair of the Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee. “We’re reminded on a near-daily basis that this struggle is ongoing, as more and more legal rights and protections for the LGBTQIA+ community are taken away. Pride Month is also about visibility, celebration, and community building and we are thrilled that this June, the City is offering more ways than ever for LGBTQIA+ community members, friends, and allies to come together to show our Pride.”

These events are sponsored by The City of Hoboken, The Pride Advisory Committee, and the Division of Cultural Affairs. Additional sponsorships are being offered for individual events. Those interested should contact HobokenPrideCommittee@gmail.com.
