Some Emergency Snow Routes released; All others remain in effect to allow for plowing and snow removal
The City of Hoboken’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has lifted the local State of Emergency, but most emergency snow routes will remain in effect until further notice.
The City will be conducting overnight snow removal tonight on Fourth Street between River and Harrison Streets. Hoboken Police Officers will be on site to assist with traffic detours as necessary.
Please be reminded that snow removal involves large equipment, including plows, payloaders, and dump trucks, which will cause noise. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as crews work to clear the parking lanes of snow.
In anticipation of discounted garage parking ending tomorrow morning (see below), the City will release snow emergency routes as they are cleared of snow. Willow Avenue and Grand Street have been released and are now available for parking. The City anticipates releasing Washington Street by 6 p.m. tonight.
Drivers are reminded to park legally and within the parking lanes only. Vehicles violating any traffic laws, including parking too close to the crosswalk or obstructing the flow of traffic, are subject to ticketing and towing.

Any vehicle that remains parked on snow emergency routes is subject to ticketing and towing. This is necessary to allow emergency vehicles to move throughout Hoboken, and to allow for the overnight snow removal of parking lanes.

Please be aware of possible black ice on roads, and slippery sidewalks, especially as temperatures drop in the overnight hours.
Discounted rate at municipal parking garages expires at 8 a.m. TOMORROW, Wednesday, Feb. 25
Residents are advised to move their cars out of participating garages prior to 8 a.m. tomorrow. Upon exit, the garage attendant will calculate the total amount due. To avoid delays, please plan to exit early, as lines can form when the discounted rate ends.
Street sweeping to resume Thursday, Feb. 26
Street cleaning is cancelled for tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 25 and will resume Thursday, Feb. 26 for plowing operations of curbside parking lanes.
Please remember plowing takes significantly longer than the 1-hour window allotted for multiple blocks of street cleaning, so it is likely that not all blocks will be plowed. Should this occur, the Division of Public Works will return during the next scheduled street cleaning to plow the parking lane.
Community members are asked to please continue to dig out and move their vehicles to avoid impeding plowing. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
Parking meters remain in effect to support turnover and snow clearing.
Waste collection resumes tonight; City Hall to reopen tomorrow
Be advised, waste and recycling collection will occur as scheduled tonight, Feb. 24. Please place trash bins and recycling curbside after 7:30 p.m. in residential areas, and 9 p.m. in the limited business district. Find more information at: https://www.hobokennj.gov/resources/waste-collection
Municipal offices at City Hall and the Multi-Service Center will reopen tomorrow, Feb. 25.
Keep sidewalks & curb ramps clear; inspections underway
Please remember that property owners and occupants are responsible for the removal of snow and ice from sidewalks, curb cuts, curb ramps, and fire hydrants adjacent to their properties.
The City performs pro-active inspections, which are underway, but also relies on citizen reports to help identify property owners that are not meeting sidewalk safety requirements. While most property owners comply with the safety regulations, the City will issue fines to those who do not keep sidewalks clear. To report an un-shoveled sidewalk, please email sanitationinspectors@hobokennj.gov.
Residents are urged to use caution when shoveling as the snow is expected to be wet and heavy. Please assist elderly or disabled neighbors with clearing snow from their properties.
It is illegal to shovel snow back onto streets or onto fire hydrants.

Volunteer to assist neighbors with snow removal
The City has launched a volunteer snow removal program for those 60 years old or older or those who have a disability and need assistance clearing snow from their property, sidewalk, curb ramp, or curb cuts, as well as their vehicles after the storm.
Please note, snow removal requests are occurring on a first come first served basis and depend on the availability of volunteers.
