The program aims to limit greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by solid waste by diverting textiles from landfills. So far, the program has recycled over 2 tons of textiles that would have otherwise been sent to a landfill.

In December of 2022 the City launched the Textile Recycling Program to divert unwearable, torn, and non-donatable textiles, such as footwear, clothing, accessories (e.g. hats, ties, and gloves), linens, pet clothing, canvases, etc. from local landfills.
