Monthly Options

Resident Overnight:
Limited parking available from 6pm to 8am at a discounted rate of $5/night in Garages “B”, “D”, or Midtown. If your car is parked after 8pm but remains in the garage beyond 8am the following morning, standard hourly rates apply. If you already have an active Resident parking permit, there is no need to purchase this type of parking in advance.

Resident Monthly Senior:
Senior residents over the age of 62 may park their car in unreserved spaces of the garage 24/7 on a first come-first serve basis at a discounted senior rate. Please note that in some garages the Resident Monthly Senior rate is provided at designated ground level spaces but is limited to availability.

Vacation Spot:
This option is for residents who are planning time away from Hoboken and usually park on-street. To avoid street cleaning tickets or the hassle of asking friends/family members to move their cars, limited discounted parking is available to residents in Garage D at 215 Hudson Street for up to 14 days per year. The fee is $5/day, with a maximum of 14 days per year of issued permit. Simply come into the Hoboken Parking Utility office and provide the same documentation as required for a Resident parking permit. You will then show this permit to the attendant when departing and he will charge you the discounted rate.

Resident Emergency/Event:
This option is announced on an “as needed” basis for residents who usually park on-street to temporarily park in designated municipal garages when emergency events are announced (snow, flooding, etc.). Limited parking is available on a first-come-first-serve basis, usually in 12 or 24 hour increments at certain garages as specified in the emergency announcement. If your car is parked beyond the discounted period specified in the announcement, standard hourly rates apply. If you already have a Resident or Temporary parking permit, there is no need to purchase this type of parking in advance; simply present your Resident or Temporary parking permit to the attendant with your ticket when existing at the gate and refer to the emergency announcement (or show a copy of the announcement).

Municipal Garage Improvements:
The Hoboken Parking Utility (HPU) installed new, state-of-the-art parking technology in the municipal garages in 2021. These improvements included a new parking access system as well as a parking guidance system. The system’s improved technology will streamline the parking and payment experience for users with the following key improvements:

  • License plate recognition cameras. As each vehicle enters a garage, a license plate recognition camera will scan each vehicle's license plate, granting access to monthly permit parkers and registering entrance times for hourly parkers. Monthly parkers may add multiple license plates per account but only one vehicle per account will be allowed inside of the garage at a time. If a permit holder changes their license plate they will be required to update the license plate number in their online account or contact the garage office at 201-653-7333.
  • New online account portal for Monthly and "HHELPR" accounts. Monthly parking customers can conveniently make monthly payments by credit or debit card, setup autopay, update account information, and more with a new online account portal. Customers will need to re-verify their contact and license plate information prior to the install dates for each garage. Automatic payments in the new system will begin on September 1st for Garage G & D parkets and on October 1st for Midtown and Garage B parkers. A convenience fee of $3.00 will be added to credit card and debit card payments made through the online portal. Instructions and details from HPU regarding verification and online account setup are provided below.
  • Parking guidance system. The new RedStorm Parking Guidance System will notify drivers of real-time parking spot availability through a digital sign displayed at the entrance of each garage. Parking availability information will also be accessible through the City's website.
  • E-Validation system. A new online-based merchant validation system will streamline the ability for merchants to purchase, activate, and track discount parking validations for their customers.
  • Compatibility with popular parking reservations platforms. The new parking access system will be compatible with popular parking reservation services, such as ParkWhiz and Spot Hero, which will allow customers to reserve a parking space in a municipal garage before ever leaving home.
  • Touchless payments. With license plate recognition cameras, daily parkers, HHELPR parkers, and e-validation beneficiaries will be able to simply insert a credit or debit card for payment in the exit lane.
