The Hoboken Parking Utility (HPU) is installing new, state-of-the-art parking technology in the municipal garages. These improvements include a new parking access system as well as a parking guidance system. The system’s improved technology will streamline the parking and payment experience for users with the following key improvements:
Installations of the new parking system will occur throughout the months of August and September, beginning with Garage G (315 Hudson Street) during the week of August 10. Installation in Garage D (215 Hudson Street) is scheduled to begin the week of August 24, Garage B (28 2nd Street) during the week of September 7, and Midtown Garage (371 4th Street) during the week of September 21. Monthly Customers
If you are a monthly parker, HPU will need your current license plate. Please click here to provide those details. Once you have provided your information, you will receive an email in the coming days with login instructions for your new account. Beginning in September, monthly payments must be made through the new online portal or by check.
Hourly Customers
With the installation of license plate recognition (ALPR) technology, daily parkers no longer have to worry about lost tickets. Parking rates will be automatically calculated based on vehicle entrance and exit scan times. Customers will still receive tickets upon entrance to the garage and will have the option of using that ticket at our payment kiosks or utilizing touchless payment at the garage exit. Hourly parkers will also benefit from a newly installed RedStorm Parking Guidance System that will let drivers know how many parking spaces are available in real-time.
Business Customers
HHELPR Discount Employee Parking Program
Our "Park and Work Daily Debit" program is becoming the "Hoboken Helps Employees Lower Parking Rates" (HHELPR) Program. The program offers workers reliable and cost-effective garage parking during their hours of employment. Employees of Hoboken-based businesses enrolled in the HHELPR receive a discounted rate of $5 for 12 hours (77%-82% discount depending on garage) of parking. With the installation of new, state-of-the-art parking access and revenue control technology, HHELPR parkers will also enjoy a streamlined parking experience. NEW E-Validation Program (Coming Soon)
Parking validation is a great way for Hoboken business owners to provide loyal customers with free or discounted parking at our Municipal Garages. With the new TIBA E-Validation system, businesses can quickly activate, and track discount parking validations for their customers online. It also allows business owners to make payments at the end of each month, and no longer requires pre-purchase. Additional benefits include:
Merchants will be able to present any unused legacy validation tickets to our garage manager, Jason Rubino, at 215 Hudson Street to be applied to the first billing cycle of the E-Validation program.
