Hoboken Fire Department

Serving the community since 1891, the Fire Department consists of approximately 117 firefighters and 19 civilian employees.  HFD responds with one tour commander, 3 engine companies, 2 ladder companies, and one rescue.  There is a Fire Prevention Bureau, Fire Marshal, Training Officer, and Operations Officer.  The HFD maintains a Marine 1 fireboat and a heavy rescue company.  We also participate in regional response initiatives: the New Jersey Regional Fireboat Task Force (NJRFTF) for maritime emergencies and the Urban Area Security Initiative Metro Urban Search and Rescue Strike Team (UASI MUST) for technical rescue.

Hoboken Police Department

The Hoboken Police Department was established in 1855 as a seven man police force. Today the Police Department is one of the most progressive police agencies in the State of New Jersey with a complement of over 150 sworn and civil personnel. We are a pro-active agency that incorporates a Proffesional Standards Bureau. The department serves the community in many capacities which include: Uniform Patrol Services, Parks & Waterfront Unit, Traffic Enforcement, a motorcycle division, Criminal Investigations, an Alcohol Beverage Control Unit, Firearms Application Unit, Bureau of Identification and an Emergency Services Unit.
